I have been involved in several new quilting/fabric projects lately. Met with textile designer Alison Glass talking about designing fabric and Quilt Market, she was most helpful and I hope a new friend in the art community. Our Peninsula Modern Quilt Guild is planning a quilt show this fall, so have been working with them and looking forward to that event.
Our new school season at RSA start next week and I have many new ideas for my students. I love the pillows in the photo from the summer sewing club, great job Mary, Amy and Rose.
I am a Niche Award Finalist, these awards are sponsored by Niche Magazine a trade publication of fine craft and artist made products.
This is such an honor, the judging of entries is based on three main criteria:
1. technical excellence, both in surface design and form
2. a distinct quality of unique, original and creative thought
3. market viability
The winners will be announced at the American Made show in February. I have been working like crazy to get my new designs together for this upcoming show, now the anticipation is even more exciting.
It is getting to be a crazy summer. Being so busy with the extreme heat really wears you down. Some evenings I just have to sit. But I still need to push on to the new designs and business plan. This blog is being updated and I look forward to many new things, for me, coming in the fall.
A few weeks ago we rearranged our bedroom, it is a much better layout. The room is still very basic and one of the main things missing is a headboard. I just need to decide on something-SA can build anything, so I just need to design something. This room board is what I came up with, it is my usual color scheme, but I love all the shapes and texture.
I have some classes coming this summer at my studio. Please let me know if you are interested, space is limited.

This is one of the new design I just finished for a rather large hand printed fabric order. I was interesting to translate a small square piece of collage work into yardage of fabric. It did give me a lot of inspiration for future designs. I am currently doing a lot of “playing” with surface design, and will soon have some 1/2 yards and fat quarters on line for sale.
Summer fashion is so tricky, as you get older. I especially need to cover my legs-scars. So I like pants, but not capri pants, they just seem to make everyone look short and chunky, I wear them at home and always feel fat. I do love the new wide leg crop pants that are “trendy” this year. I have been making a similar version for years, but know maybe I can purchase a pair as well. On the the next issure….SHOES…..
