We had a great time at the MOCA show last weekend in Virginia Beach and thanks so much to Nancy and Brenda at Shooting Star Gallery in Cape Charles for hosting my trunk show this weekend. I have my work available now through the holidays at The Art Center @319 in Smithfield and Pop Shop By Jo Louise in Hilton (Newport News). Please contact me if you need any last minute gift ideas, I have some beautiful silk scarves and the big tote bags.
I will have an exciting new creative space opening in 2017 so looking forward to seeing you all there-(hint) Pigs Will Fly. Make sure you sign up for my newsletter to keep up with all the news and creative ideas.
The work table is piled, so much finishing work to do for the fall/winter season.
Bags, jackets, and silk scarves, a lot of new pattern designs this year, as well.
Seeing spots-painting dots, many silk scarf orders around here, this design has been a favorite this this spring/summer. I can see the end coming with this last 5 months of orders. Looking forward to new ideas and designs and I hope to have some samples and orders available for family and friends this summer.
I have been super busy getting ready for the Buyers Market show next week. I am finally getting some of the images up from our photo shoot. The girls did a great job and everything turned out so beautiful. Debbie’s photograpy work always great. Looking forward to showing all my new work.
I am painting plaids. Planning a quilt for J and looking for plaid fabrics, surprisingly, not many interesting ones available. My plan is to paint the designs on silk scarves then, use the ones that work for this project and turn them into “screens” for printing on cotton.
Really like these plaid stairs found them at Matters of Style.
Another plaid-not the colors for J but an interesting interpretation.
This look reminds me of my work clothes when I had a job at the mining company in Kentucky. I really this and it makes me smile to think I was in style in my old construction clothes, low crotch and all. Jeans today are so fake, pretend matching holes or fade spots on $100 pants, that make you look just like everyone else. I fondly remember pair I wore for years until the fades and holes came naturally and they were just mine…
Always on the lookout for fashion/color/design inspiration I found this article in the New York Times and it showcases a collaboration of sorts. It is surprising how some people get together in thier work. I work with SA a lot but we are in our own style in design. I would like to find an artisan to work on a project, someone with a different style as well as media could create and interesting challange. This is a great combination, and so much interesting color and pattern. So, who would you love to collaborate with in you work?
Prada and Schiaparelli
Summer fashion is so tricky, as you get older. I especially need to cover my legs-scars. So I like pants, but not capri pants, they just seem to make everyone look short and chunky, I wear them at home and always feel fat. I do love the new wide leg crop pants that are “trendy” this year. I have been making a similar version for years, but know maybe I can purchase a pair as well. On the the next issure….SHOES…..
With the surprise of early warm weather I guess it is time to find something to wear. The spring/summer clothing selections are not the best for me. I don’t like to show my weird legs, and really don’t look good in or especially like carpi pants anyway, so the other selections are usually limited. Long dresses and skirts are good, and can be easy to make.
These are great layered looks, I have always been a fan of separates to mix and match, and great color.

Finished and new vest/tunic for myself. I found this unique fabric, and the design works with skirts or pants. I get inspired for clothing, is spurts, working on a top now, more for summer.
Saturday art opening for my friend Sandy at Shooting Star and JA plays in the RSA school concert in the evening, still hope to get some sewing in this weekend.
Do you have any weekend, craft/sewing projects going on?
