This past year has been a tough one. I am so looking forward to the New 2012. In planning and reviewing my work I have been a little chaotic in the collections, I guess as part of the mixed up year I have had, but the current group is really coming together.
So, what was your year about? I will see you all for a fresh start.

I wanted to use up things in my holiday decorations this year. This is a funky tree SA made for me to decorate. We played with leftover wood scraps. A little something different for the front porch entry.
It has been so busy with all the last minute shows and sales. I am slowly getting the home decor started. I usually do my holiday decorations over a few weeks as I get inspired. We have family staying with us for an extended visit, so it is taking a little longer for everything.
It is different this year with my studio being in the main area of the house, so that will reflect my display and all as well.
My color palette for this season is a little off the usual Christmas Red and Pine Green. I am also comitted to using/making only things I have on hand. There is so much inspiration out there, I do want it to be bold but simple.

With the shopping season coming fast, I hope everyone will think about shopping a little different and support local and independent business. It is very inportant to help keep these places going, they are you friends and neighbors and Hampton Roads has much to offer. My work as well as many other creative gift ideas can be found at the following places.
Shooting Star Gallery, Suffolk
The Arts Center @319, Smithfield
I have been so busy getting orders done time is flying by. It has me rethinking my studio space layout and storage areas. I need places for finished work as well as cut parts and painting area. As always searching on line I found these great solutions. I always love drawers as oposed to open shevlin(which is what I have now) it makes the space feel too busy, with everything in site. I know some people love to see everything around them but I like to set up displays for inspiration, and have most things put away. It just makes me feel calmer, and not so overwhelmed with ideas.

What do you think, do like everything out and visual, or more controled clutter?
We had good success at this summers BMAC wholesale show in Baltimore. One of my best orders was from “Home Goods/TJ Maxx” store, they are doing an all U.S. made in store section, this fall and selected a set of my reclaimed wood tiles to showcase. Very exciting, but very short deadline, so a lot of painting in the next few weeks.
