It has been a crazy time with several projects not working out, and just a lot of downs and not many ups this year. SA has been doing most of the garden work and I really miss being out in the plants and soil, so am making an effort to get outside-even in the winter and work in the garden. It is so much a part of my creative inspiration. Only one more design event next weekend, here’s to hoping for a big, positive finish, with my art, before the Holidays.
So much rain, the leaves are falling, the weather is really crazy this week, it is making me a little edgy ( my sinuses are a wreck) and hard to get all my studio work completed.
It is interesting how, you can make a schedule, work to get everything done and everything changes. Trying to do several new things this year and all those typical things like weather, accidents get in the way. But I know I have to keep moving, and these little detours are will not stop me, just slow things down, or show a new direction, I might not have seen before.
It has been a learning fall for me. I am trying to convert my hand drawn design ideas to the computer on Adobe Illustrator. In my past career I did a lot of Autocad technical work, it is one thing to make straight lines and measurements and all that using a computer and mouse, it is so tricky for me to make my hand drawings look the way I want on the computer. The boys did buy me a Wacom tablet that lets you draw directly on the screen. I am finally feeling a little more comfortable using it. It is still not quite the same, but if I want to have my designs printed on fabric,in large quantities, I will continue on, it is never too late to learn something new, anyway.
Birds are all around both indoors and out. I’m enjoying all the spring birds coming around to our little bird bath. My work has involved a lot of bird designs as well, most of it has been in applique and embroidery. I am currently working on having the designs printed on fabric yardage. It will be interesting to see where these new ideas and projects take me. Spring is bringing about several interesting changes. What is inspiring you these warmer days?
I have been painting away, and we will be painting in my classes this coming week. Hope to have some new workshops in direct silk painting, screen printing collage in Smithfield at the Art Center @319. I will have my Etsy shop open again next week for all the scarves and shirts.
Planning for the new school year has been ongoing for several weeks. I home school my son and also teach at a private art school. My boys here at home are going to work in a journal format this year. We will incorporate art, math, science, and writing lessons into a bound book format. It is something I have used a little in my art classes I teach, and I think it will help keep a flow going and make our life moreportable for travel.
I you have noticed here on the blog J my youngest is now a contributor here and writing a post a week about color.
I love the beautiful book in these photos. We will use a blank book, I was going to let them choose, but I think I will select something and present it to them with some new art supplies.
Dirt in the ground is brown, leaves on trees are brown (not yet it’s still summer or maybe it’s an evergreen). Charlie Brown… no; Charlie bit my finger. Chocolate is brown… and brownies. Brown eyed girl… other “stuff that’s brown… Brown Is neutral… mix every other color and guess what you have now… I think I have a shirt that’s brown, and pants… and shoes, and…. Gray?
