It seems like the weather is finally warming and things are all green. It is the perfect time to get collect inspiration for my art and design projects. Some leave stamps and screens for printing are in the works. I have several classes coming up around the Tidewater area, so check out that page for all the locations and dates.
This coming Saturday April 23rd I will be doing some embroidery and hand stitch work demonstrations at the Oak Level House in Isle of Wight as part of the Virginia Historic Garden Week. Make sure you visit my studio in the Arts Center @319 in downtown Smithfield.
I have been inspired the last few weeks, by a little bird. SA made some new lights for the front porch. The old ones rusted and everything we saw at the stores were not interesting(this happens to me a lot). So this little bird decides to build a nest-this late in summer-inside the light fixture. We have two lights on the porch, but she had to use the one near our front door. So not we are dive bombed every time we go out the door, and we cannot turn on the lights. It is a testament to the dedication, in the beginning we tried to move the nest before it got to big. But the birds never gave up on using this exact spot. I guess we should use this lesson, even if things don’t quite work out you can still keep going. Still trying to figure what type of birds they are, anyone know what they are?
My new fabrics were delivered. I really like the colors, and they are available to order here Angelia*A. You can see some linen and hand dyed fabrics this weekend at the Tidewater Quilt Guild show in Chesapeake. It has been a busy spring and many more things coming up, working on many new pattern and fabric designs.
Look what came in the mail today. New hang tags and postcards.
Even though it is winter I still love the soft, muted colors of the yard and garden. We have been talking and planning for some changes in the outdoor space for next year, slways on the look out for ways to make it more sustainable and add more food to the household. Looking forward to a the new year with many ideas. Hope you all have a fun New Years Eve! See you next year.
It has been a learning fall for me. I am trying to convert my hand drawn design ideas to the computer on Adobe Illustrator. In my past career I did a lot of Autocad technical work, it is one thing to make straight lines and measurements and all that using a computer and mouse, it is so tricky for me to make my hand drawings look the way I want on the computer. The boys did buy me a Wacom tablet that lets you draw directly on the screen. I am finally feeling a little more comfortable using it. It is still not quite the same, but if I want to have my designs printed on fabric,in large quantities, I will continue on, it is never too late to learn something new, anyway.
Holiday Ornaments now available at Blue Skies or contact me directly.
Working on some little quilted ornaments, it has been a while since I made some small fun art. Will be available next week.
Soooooo much rain. We are here on the East Coast soaked, and the mood is sad and dreary. The weather pressure is a real problem for we sinus people. I am painting and sorting, at least some work is getting done. Another day of this I think.
I have been in the process of updating my site here, and this has given me some time to look around for ideas and all. I found this great insiration board and blog Olive and Joy, very inspiring. Planning and implementing changes, especially where technoloigy is concerned, takes some time, I really need to finish this. Enjoy and stay relaxed and dry.
