I used to work in coal mining, creating environmental designs for coal removal and reclaimation. With all the spills and containing pond failures in recent news, it has me thinking about all that has been done to the area where I used to live. I left long ago when all the rules changed and you could see that the environment was not going to be an important part of the region.
My life has been through many changes both location and my work, since those years working in Van Lear, KY. Whenever I go back, now it is sad to see how much damage has been done, and all the people have been hurt physically and economically. I don’t know how it all went so wrong, and when money became more important then human life and the natural resources. I think it has not been good for us, and hope we can change our way of thinking, so we can help everyone, including mother nature. We are all in this together after all

When I was little my grandmother would watch-and do the exercise program Jack Lalanne most every morning. It got me in the habit of doing some kind of movement everyday. For most of my life I was very active, but in the last couple of years, some physical problems and stress have been an issue and now I cannot seem to get to the point where I can lose wight and feel fit. This is a time in my life where I really need to be “lighter” and more focused. I have been doing a food experiment and I have found a big problem with sugar. So this week the sweets have been going away and I can really tell a difference. Now, to stop the sugar completely for a couple of weeks to see if things improve even more. Do you have any food issues?
I have been trying to get “more” fit. I can’t believe it becomes so hard as I get older. Finding a plan to stay with in a hectic, is a challenge as well as eating well. I don’t mind working out, it is just tough to fine the motivation and do enough to make a difference. I have some physical limitations so that is another issue.
I read Heidi Klum (watching Project Runway this season?) and her fitesss guru, wouldn’t that be great to have a fitness guru to keep you going and make all the food and workout plans.
Before the red thread fire, I was able to workout with the help my friends a personal trainer and a yoga instructor (we had a fitness studio upstairs) and it really made all the difference. But things have changed and people are gone from the area, so I have new focus to do things on my own and hopefully get enough movement back to be able to workout in a class or gym.
Fashion for working out is always hard, you don’t want to look like you just got out of bed when walking around your neighbor at 7:30am. I like the layers of this look, and of course Heidi Klum looks great no matter. I think I need to restyle a couple of my big baggy tees for a update.
