I am painting plaids. Planning a quilt for J and looking for plaid fabrics, surprisingly, not many interesting ones available. My plan is to paint the designs on silk scarves then, use the ones that work for this project and turn them into “screens” for printing on cotton.
Really like these plaid stairs found them at Matters of Style.
Another plaid-not the colors for J but an interesting interpretation.
Soooooo much rain. We are here on the East Coast soaked, and the mood is sad and dreary. The weather pressure is a real problem for we sinus people. I am painting and sorting, at least some work is getting done. Another day of this I think.
I have been in the process of updating my site here, and this has given me some time to look around for ideas and all. I found this great insiration board and blog Olive and Joy, very inspiring. Planning and implementing changes, especially where technoloigy is concerned, takes some time, I really need to finish this. Enjoy and stay relaxed and dry.

It has been crazy, busy around here with many things going on this fall. School has started and I have three classes so a lot of planning has been happening. My lesson plans always take a lot of prep, since I am teaching fiber art and design. While looking around for a “little” house project for my older students I found some great work out there by some creative artists.

There is a quilt event that I will be working coming in a few weeks, more on that soon.
The boys had their first big “gig” today a formal wedding in Virginia Beach. I am so excited for their new venture. So if let me know if you have a need for music at your next event, weddings, parties, art shows, etc. Loop Trek DJ’s offers a wide range play list of music genres available.
This look reminds me of my work clothes when I had a job at the mining company in Kentucky. I really this and it makes me smile to think I was in style in my old construction clothes, low crotch and all. Jeans today are so fake, pretend matching holes or fade spots on $100 pants, that make you look just like everyone else. I fondly remember pair I wore for years until the fades and holes came naturally and they were just mine…
A friend ask me last week about hand quilting. She had received a donated, unfinished quilt and needed it for the Art League fund raiser auction. I do some had work, but have never completed a whole quilt. I started looking about on line and found some beautiful examples of hand quilting in modern design form.
The time involved seems daunting to me to do a a large quilt, but I will included some hand stitching and quilting in some of my smaller projects. It is great practice for all sewing skills and I use it in my teaching. This summer in turning out to be full of inspiration and new up coming creative adventures. More ideas coming soon.
This beautiful detail is from Victoria at Silly BooDilly. I have followed her work for a while and really love her color sense, and the hand quilting is equally amazing. She has a beautiful collection of work quilts as well.
J turns 18 today, he is the youngest and so it is a little emotional for me. But he is an amazing son and I am surprised by him every day. I know he will be happy and successful with all he does in his life. Happy Birthday J.
It is getting to be a crazy summer. Being so busy with the extreme heat really wears you down. Some evenings I just have to sit. But I still need to push on to the new designs and business plan. This blog is being updated and I look forward to many new things, for me, coming in the fall.
A few weeks ago we rearranged our bedroom, it is a much better layout. The room is still very basic and one of the main things missing is a headboard. I just need to decide on something-SA can build anything, so I just need to design something. This room board is what I came up with, it is my usual color scheme, but I love all the shapes and texture.
I have some classes coming this summer at my studio. Please let me know if you are interested, space is limited.
