In prepartaion for the Holidays, I need to clean and rework my spaces, to decorate and for visitors. I think I need to make an inspiration board. With so many things going on, it helps me to have a visal plan.
Off to another busy week, here with deliveries and all. What is going on with you, the season is near?
This is a beautiful mood board.
I have been painting away, and we will be painting in my classes this coming week. Hope to have some new workshops in direct silk painting, screen printing collage in Smithfield at the Art Center @319. I will have my Etsy shop open again next week for all the scarves and shirts.
New pieced fabric shawls. Orders going out, but will have some available for the Holidays.
I really love this plaid fabric ruffle.
I am loving working with black and white.
Monday here again. Things are piling up around here. Orders are going out and students are coming for classes. It is going to be a busy week, but I can see a clear place after a couple more weeks of keeping my head down. Hope to have some time to clear the air and focus on new designs and some others ideas I have on the radar.
I have been sewing and sewing lately, with all the bag orders. This week I had to start a new order for some scarves, so I am painting on silk again. It is something I really love, I never realized how relaxing it is for me. This is an artist I have admired for many years Kerr Grabrowski. She uses a technique disconstructed screen printing, to create the layered affect.
A working weekend for me, and student in the studio next week. Always a fun time.
I love this designer Gudrun Sjoden, so colorful, comfortable and stylish. She uses models of all types and ages and her company in “green.” I have been working in black/white with pops of color so I love the tunic look in the top photo. The jacket below is a perfect example of Kantha style quilting. My students are working on a piece using this technique. I am looking at making a light coat jacket this year, this one is a great inspiration.
I have been so busy getting orders done time is flying by. It has me rethinking my studio space layout and storage areas. I need places for finished work as well as cut parts and painting area. As always searching on line I found these great solutions. I always love drawers as oposed to open shevlin(which is what I have now) it makes the space feel too busy, with everything in site. I know some people love to see everything around them but I like to set up displays for inspiration, and have most things put away. It just makes me feel calmer, and not so overwhelmed with ideas.

What do you think, do like everything out and visual, or more controled clutter?
My students have creating their own fabric design for a future project. We have been using stencils but I hope to bring in some other types of print materials in the future-block and screen printing and maybe some silk direct painting. Hand printing is very relevant in the arts and crafts world, and getting back to hand made items. I really hope the art students today will take these new ideas and bring some change in the mass produced items that have taken over.
When we create in my design business I like to think we are making quality items that can be the there for the future-we use natural fabric and real wood.
I love these printed fabrics in photo that I found via Flickr and Found in the Fridge.
I love the combination of many different fabrics, the hand printing pulls it all together. Does anyone have any hand printing projects out there?
